Hydrant Flow Testing
Hydrant flow testing is a process used to measure the flow rate and pressure of water from a fire hydrant. The purpose of the test is to determine the capacity of the hydrant to deliver water to firefighting operations and to assess the adequacy of the water supply system. The flow test is performed by opening the hydrant and measuring the flow of water through a device such as a flow meter. The pressure at the hydrant is also measured with a gauge.
